PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIABoasting one of the best views in Perth, you don’t need to secure a window seat to take in the breathtaking sunset at Oceanus restaurant. This City Beach eatery has an absolute beachfront location where the only thing between you and the Indian Ocean is the pristine, white, sandy beach. High ceilings with exposed beams and floor-to-ceiling windows give Oceanus a definite feel of spaciousness, and guests an uncrowded dining experience. Winning a wide range of accolades including, Best Tourist Restaurant and an Honour Award for Best Chef, the food at Oceanus is just as enjoyable as the view.
If gazing at the Indian Ocean gets you in the mood for seafood, you’ve come to the right place. Blue swimmer crab ravioli, tempura flathead and a sensational range of freshly shucked oysters are just a handful of seafood favourites on the entree menu. The smoked venison with duck liver pate also gets two thumbs up. Game meats are featured on the mains menu as well, with the fricassee of wild rabbit and pancetta-wrapped rabbit loin receiving rave reviews. But let’s not get too carried away. The majority of diners come here for the seafood, and what better way to experience the best the Indian Ocean has to offer, than with a great big seafood platter laden with fish and shellfish. If this sounds a little too extravagant, there’s lots more to choose from like the delicious Moreton Bay bugs, crispy fried local whiting and the fish of the day. As the sun sets over the Indian Ocean, and your oysters arrive at the table, it won’t take long before you realise why Oceanus is one of Perth’s favourite restaurants for fine seafood and a spectacular waterfront location.
