PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAWe’ve all been guilty of tucking into a great big juicy burger laden with all the trimmings, followed by handfuls of fries and washed down with icy cold beer. So what if I told you that now you could enjoy this type of indulgence on a healthier scale? That’s right folks, thanks to newly opened FAB Burgers in Subiaco you can now live your dream and enjoy burgers and fries without the fat-laden guilt. At this unique modern-day burger joint, only high quality ingredients are used such as 100% Butterfield beef, Western Australian chicken and fish, daily baked sugar-free New Norcia buns and a range of locally sourced toppings and ingredients. Taking a seat in the funky yet simple surrounds of the restaurant, it’s almost impossible not to gawk at fellow diners trying to wrap their mouths around one of these burgers – some even resort to using cutlery, which is already present at each table.
I couldn’t go past the “Blue” burger with Butterfield beef, creamy blue cheese, salad and relish although the temptation to order the “Royale” with bacon and cheddar cheese (a la Pulp Fiction style “Royale with cheese”) almost got the better of me. There are so many fabulous burgers to choose from, it’s really no wonder this place already has a strong following of regulars. How else is one to experience the joys of a BYO burger (build your own), Elvis burger (double beef with your choice of toppings) or a chicken ABC (chicken breast with avocado, bacon and cheese). There’s also the Wanneroo burger with Western Australian kangaroo and a fantastic barra burger with local saltwater barramundi. Top this off with cholesterol-free chips, local beers or a Tim Tam thickshake and you have a burger joint to rival the old iconic Bernies!
