As one of Adelaide’s oldest halal restaurants, Quiet Waters is well known for fresh, good quality Lebanese food. Tucked downstairs, well away from the changing scenes of Hindley Street, you can expect traditional food cooked from old recipes served in a comfortable room with many paintings, walls hanging, red velvet booths and candles. Belly dancing is not out of the question either, with Quiet Waters made even more authentic by the availability of Shamira every Saturday night. Although not much has changed on the menu, the Elmawey family have kept Quiet Waters a well respected city secret with modestly priced food and good old fashioned service for the past 25 years.

Quiet Waters is also a favourite with vegetarians for its good choice of beautifully spiced vegetable dishes and dips. With the increasing number of coeliac and yeast-free diets, Quiet Waters is still capturing this market by adequately catering to those needs. Big groups are not a problem here either and visitors can easily pre-order appropriate halal cuisine by calling a few days in advance. Start your evening with homemade pita and dips and don’t forget to try some of the specials from the board. BYO own wine if you feel like drinking. Dishes to try include the bamya (a stew of okra and tomato) and sulabi (black-eyed beans, spinach and spices).
