PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIATo overcome any initial suspicions you might have of an organic pizza house, start with some Mt Barker Turkish bread. Served warmed and smothered in olive tapenade from the Adelaide Hills, it is more-ish to the point of addiction. The Taste SA Platter is also a perfect distraction for a grumbling tummy – snack on bread served with its good friend’s dukkah, tapenade and a mound of creamy artisan cheese. Then, once you’ve built your confidence with the menu, you can go all-out and tuck into the organic pizzas and wines.
The starters and sides are great but the flavour train doesn’t stop there, with organic pizzas available in combinations like oven roasted free-range chicken with organic baby potatoes, garlic, rosemary and mild parmesan. However, the margarita pizza is clearly the favourite – made with love, the organic tomatoes that top the delicious base are crushed by hand to release their flavour, the pizza finished with local mozzarella cheese and sprigs of home-grown Italian basil. The restaurant sits atop a large corner block on Jetty Road, and the newly refurbished interiors are light, bright and just right.
