PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIAIt is fascinating to consider the wide array of teas that can be found throughout the world. In the past some teas were reserved solely for royalty or those of high stature, or indeed anyone who could afford them. Some teas are even said to possess great healing powers or health benefits. Queenie’s Traditional Tea House specialises in bringing some of these teas to the people of Brisbane. Accompanied with a fine breakfast or some of their home specialty items, there is definitely a morning or afternoon to be enjoyed here.
One of the teas on offer is wu-long tea, made popular throughout the ages for its aid in weight loss and fat burning. This incredible tea comes with guidelines for the best results. There are also some very tempting traditional breakfast items on offer over the weekends. Choose from eggs Benedict, French toast “Queenie's style” and more. One specialty is breakfast high tea – scrambled eggs and toast, a warm croissant, a home-made breakfast muffin, butter and jam, Brookfarm muesli, berry coulis and yoghurt all served on a three-tier stand – what a brekkie! Queenie’s also specialises in a tempting array of traditional sweets and scones, which are all cooked on-site. Choose from apple and pistachio tea cake, sticky date pudding, lavender syrup cake or traditional scones. Low and high teas are available, as well as a few other specialty ensembles. Main meals are also available and vary from day to day, so check the blackboard in-store.
