Cafe Sydney at Circular Quay is amazing. Beautiful decor, great food, staff who are mostly discreet and give you plenty of time and the most amazing view over our beautiful Harbour. Night time is even more beautiful.

Braeside Cafe, bed & breakfast Mt Macedon is just the most beautiful and peaceful setting for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea either sitting inside or under a tree outside surrounded by a gorgeous garden, peacocks and birds. The food is cooked on the premises and the ambience is romantic and soft-focussed.

My pick for a romantic meal is Le Pelican on Bourke Street Darlinghurst. Imagine an intimate, sandstone room, with fresh flowers, a distressed leather banquette, and lively art by local artist Sam Rey.
The service is warm but not intrusive and Jean-Francois Salet's menu is divine - fresh produce, decadent dishes and it's all nicely presented. Taste those heavenly oysters from Wapengo Lake - after all, oysters are said to be a great aphrodisiac.
To get your female companion in a seductive mood, might I suggest the Chocolate Fondant with Milk Ice-Cream for dessert?

My pick as most romantic restaurant would be vie at Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast. You over look all the yachts tied up at there moorings, the service is impecable and the food delicious and wine list just right. My husband & I love it so much we had our wedding reception there.

I had the most romantic weekend escape at The Lakehouse in Daylesford Victoria. The suites are amazing overlooking the lake. Dinner at the restaurant was an especally romantic affair, with food to die for, an excellent sommelier who matched all of our wines to our meal, exceptional service and a cosy table next to a roaring open fire. Truely magical!

My husband proposed to me at the Abbey Restaurant, Glebe. It was an old church that is now 5 star dining with waiters in tuxedos. Great food, a lot of space between tables and exceptional service/food. A must for any romantic dinner!

I recently had an incredibly romantic dinner at Limani Seafood Restaurant at Narrabeen (The old Narrabeen Boat Shed). The restaurant is on the top level with sheltered outdoor seating. We went on a warm summers night as the sun was setting on a mirror of a lake, we were sitting on the balcony with nothing between us and the gorgeous view. Food was delicious and the wine list was excellent. When my man gets back from too long in Scotland we will be going back.

A more recent place I dined - Ciel Rouge - would also hit my romance list. It's one level above the busy Victoria Street, Darlinghurst. It's an unpretentious restaurant set in a cosy, romantic room with burgundy banquettes, twinkling tea-lights on the tables, and contemporary French lounge/pop on the stereo. If you like a pre-dinner tipple, there’s a $14 cocktail list (that leans towards Martinis) which you can consume in an intimate back bar, before or after your meal.

Catalina at Rose Bay. There is nothing like sitting on the balcony in summer with a chilled glass of resiling, watching the sun go down over the harbour with the occasional pelican swimming past. The food equally amazing, simple, fresh flavours.

My partner & I spent our Christmas vacation on a houseboat cruising The Murray River. Our base was Mildura. We had New Years Eve dinner booked at Stefano's. (World renown TV Chef). After watching Stefano on TV we new we wanted to experience this chef's food. What a wonderful Romantic restaurant, it's located in the Cellars of the Grand Hotel , most of the tables are for couples with the old cool rooms set for groups of 12. Dinner was a 5 course degustation with all local wines. The patrons were honoured by the presence of Stefano, he visited every table to say hello and I was lucky enough to buy two of his cook books which he signed. ...Imagine being with the one you love sitting in an old Sandstone Cellar eating wonderful Italian food served by Italian speaking waters....thats romantic.....

The night my fiance proposed to me, we went to a little restaurant called L'osteria on southbank Melbourne, it is the 'cafe' part of Scusami. It is tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy strip, has a cosy atmosphere, the food is beatiful, and you can just sit and focus on the person you are with. Perfect.

My partner and I went to Botanic Cafe in Adelaide. Man...it was great. And despite how modern and funky it was, it was also a romantice setting. The quality of the food is the best I've had since I used to go to a place called Bellas in Palmerston North back in New Zealand! Really modern, superb service - Diana and I will be going again soon!
The Paul Knauer verdict - 9/10!
